The Fjords

Bolstad – Eidsland:  Traveling by motorized vehicle or bicycle along the charming narrow road that hugs the steep mountainsides, the Emerald Ribbon meanders along picturesque narrow fjords in the heart of Norway’s finest fjord country. The Bolstadfjord, Veafjord, Eidsfjord and Mofjord all lie like pearls along The Emerald Ribbon, this gorgeous landscape that has sustained a rich and varied culture to include hunting, fishing, sand extraction and sea transport.

The Stone Age site Skipshelleren in Straume is one of Norway’s most famous. The road from Stamnes to Eidsland includes several impressive hand-drilled tunnels, one of which is the longest of its kind in Norway. And the exhilarating spray from the Hesjedal Falls offers a cool respite on a hot day!
